The rubber coating around the head and the life time bulb means LED shows its hardness and make it real practical, also the lens is recessed in the head to protect it from impact. The tail cap also fully rubber coated and the construction of tail cap and head even the whole body makes the light shock prove.

Plus it has a Lanyard attachment point on the tail cap if you like to hang up the light with your working gear with carabineer clip or etc. Also the tail cap is flat at its end and can easily stand up to work as a electric candle by shooting the beam on ceiling to bounce back the light to lit up the room.

The LED and reflector not quite well fixed but the light is quite good for its size and power source.

Overall Appearance
The body of the Powerlight is machined aluminum with anodize finish and is available in black and gray only. Although the light is anodize finish but it’s easily stacked out when keep the light with keys or coins in a pocket. The outside of the body has several rings machined into the surface to help with grip and you will also find flat panels around the central area of the body for texture and display of the company logos. The tail cap has a textured area for grip as well as a recessed switch for standing on end and a lanyard attachment point. A lanyard is attached with the light.

Bezel / Head
The head of the Powerlight includes a plastic lens, a plastic smooth reflector, an straw hat 1 watt LED, Despite the fact these type of LED’s are mostly in 0.5 watt rated power but manufacturer clams it 1 Watt, and a regulator circuit, all permanently installed. The LED is not perfectly centered in the reflector, which cause a little off word beam but ok during practical use.

Output
Output is very good for a single AA alkaline cell. Using an alkaline cell, output is semi-regulated and diminishes over time. The light produced by the LED is a high color temperature and produces good color but, blue tint is detectable when compared against a near sunlight-white source. Or even when you put light on a white wall.

Switch
The switch is a rubber covered clickie and is fully recessed in the tail cap which allows the light to stand on end and be used as an electric candle. It is very easy to use. Click on, click off. Lock out function available with 1 full turn.

Seals / Water Resistance / Batteries
The light is protected from the environment by an o-ring at both ends of the body tube, a rubber switch cover and a sealed bezel. While the light is seems to be a splash able but not dive able cause no water resistant’s depth is shown by the manufacturer. The Powerlight is operating on single AA size alkaline cell while NiMH also works well. Its runtime is almost 2 – 4 hours.

Overall Appearance
The body is an aluminum alloy construction looks seems to be really hard and tough. The head is little bigger then barrel which have 6 groves on it which helps prevent it from rolling off on a flat surface and also proves grip when focusing needed. The barrel of the flashlight has texture (checkered) body and the same thing of battery cap which gives more grip. The brand name “DORCY” is mark on one side of the barrel. The quality of the workmanship is free from defect in material, and the machining work is really good.

Bezel / Head
The front of the light consists of a smooth polycarbonate optical lens. The lens is slightly recessed in the head. Under the lens you will find NICHIA Power LED Series (SMD type) on a well design circuit board with resistor. Resistor helps the LED to limiting the current, providing thermal runaway.

Output
The light produce by the Flashlight is pure white with slightly non-noticeable yellow-blue tint. And have good color temperature. It contents a yellow-blue tint which gives quite good rendition during practical usage. It has a focusing feature as mention above by its name. When the head is completely focus out it gives quite good round illumination light ring with some spill beam, no dark area because of surface LED and optical lens. When the head is completely focused it gives quite tight spot of light for distance lighting up to 100 feet, with a little spill beam.

Switch
The switch is a plastic covered reverse-clickie in the tail cap. Press for on, press for off. When on, you can press gently to blink the light. Since the plastic cap slightly beyond the plane of the tail cap, the light will not stand on end.

Seals / Water Resistance / Batteries
An o-ring at both ends of the body tube, a plastic switch cover and a O-ring bezel, protects the light from the wet environment. To change the batteries: unscrew the tail cap, drop out a battery carrier which feels quite tough and well made, pull out the old ones and place a new set of battery observing proper polarity. Reattach the tail cap and you are ready for action. The light is direct driven so it runs on 3 x AAA size cells, Alkaline and NiMH.

Extra Features
The Dorcy 1 WATT (# 41-4285) is reversible flashlight in which you can convert this long range focusing flashlight into electric candle for area illumination. To convert the flashlight into candle, put head screwed out and place it under its end downward, so that barrel stands in the head and its working light a electric candle.

Overall Appearance
The body of this light is machined aluminum with an anodized finish and is available in black only. Although information from the factory is not available on the type of anodize, a third party has provided information that leads us to believe that it is Type II. The body and head are completely cylindrical and there is a wide ring of gentle checkering around the head and body. The tail has several holes cut into it. This allows a lanyard (included) to be attached. The tail is not completely flat, so not allowing it to stand on end. The rubber cover rise little bit high from body.

Bezel / Head
At the front of the light you will find a recessed plastic lens with a 1 Watt LED inside a smooth reflector. Despite the use of a smooth reflector, the beam is quite nice and produces a fairly tight spot. Let’s take a close-up look The LED itself – the top is almost flush with the surface of the board. 14 little gold bond wires are visible, which means. There are actually 7 LED’s inside this one module.

Output
The light produce by the led is really pure white light, the output is quite high with its size and had a medium central spot with a fairly good round spill beam, and no tint is detected when compare to nearly sunlight source. The light throw is to be use with in 50 to 60 feet. (Distance vary depend upon the eyesight of the user).

Switch
The switch is a rubber covered clickie and is not fully recessed in the tailcap which don’t allows the light to stand on end and be used as an electric candle. Despite the fact, it is very easy to use. Click on, Click off. You can lockout the switch by unscrewing the tailcap 1/2 turn. This will prevent accidental activation when packing the light in your backpack or luggage.

Seals / Water Resistance / Batteries
An o-ring at both ends of the body tube, a rubber switch cover and a sealed bezel, protects the light from the environment. Company advertises the light as “waterproof” with no specific depth rating. If it gets wet inside, just disassemble as much a possible without tools and let it dry before using again. To change out the battery: unscrew the tailcap, drop out the old cell, and place in new cell observing proper polarity. Reattach the tailcap and you’re ready to go.
