The body of the Powerlight is machined aluminum with anodize finish and is available in black and gray only. Although the light is anodize finish but it’s easily stacked out when keep the light with keys or coins in a pocket. The outside of the body has several rings machined into the surface to help with grip and you will also find flat panels around the central area of the body for texture and display of the company logos. The tail cap has a textured area for grip as well as a recessed switch for standing on end and a lanyard attachment point. A lanyard is attached with the light.

The head of the Powerlight includes a plastic lens, a plastic smooth reflector, an straw hat 1 watt LED, Despite the fact these type of LED’s are mostly in 0.5 watt rated power but manufacturer clams it 1 Watt, and a regulator circuit, all permanently installed. The LED is not perfectly centered in the reflector, which cause a little off word beam but ok during practical use.

Output is very good for a single AA alkaline cell. Using an alkaline cell, output is semi-regulated and diminishes over time. The light produced by the LED is a high color temperature and produces good color but, blue tint is detectable when compared against a near sunlight-white source. Or even when you put light on a white wall.

The switch is a rubber covered clickie and is fully recessed in the tail cap which allows the light to stand on end and be used as an electric candle. It is very easy to use. Click on, click off. Lock out function available with 1 full turn.

The light is protected from the environment by an o-ring at both ends of the body tube, a rubber switch cover and a sealed bezel. While the light is seems to be a splash able but not dive able cause no water resistant’s depth is shown by the manufacturer. The Powerlight is operating on single AA size alkaline cell while NiMH also works well. Its runtime is almost 2 - 4 hours.

The body is an aluminum alloy construction looks seems to be really hard and tough. The head is little bigger then barrel which have 6 groves on it which helps prevent it from rolling off on a flat surface and also proves grip when focusing needed. The barrel of the flashlight has texture (checkered) body and the same thing of battery cap which gives more grip. The brand name “DORCY” is mark on one side of the barrel. The quality of the workmanship is free from defect in material, and the machining work is really good.

The front of the light consists of a smooth polycarbonate optical lens. The lens is slightly recessed in the head. Under the lens you will find NICHIA Power LED Series (SMD type) on a well design circuit board with resistor. Resistor helps the LED to limiting the current, providing thermal runaway.

The light produce by the Flashlight is pure white with slightly non-noticeable yellow-blue tint. And have good color temperature. It contents a yellow-blue tint which gives quite good rendition during practical usage. It has a focusing feature as mention above by its name. When the head is completely focus out it gives quite good round illumination light ring with some spill beam, no dark area because of surface LED and optical lens. When the head is completely focused it gives quite tight spot of light for distance lighting up to 100 feet, with a little spill beam.
							<span style="display:block; margin-top:5px; margin-bottom:35px;">Tight Focus</span>

The switch is a plastic covered reverse-clickie in the tail cap. Press for on, press for off. When on, you can press gently to blink the light. Since the plastic cap slightly beyond the plane of the tail cap, the light will not stand on end.

An o-ring at both ends of the body tube, a plastic switch cover and a O-ring bezel, protects the light from the wet environment. To change the batteries: unscrew the tail cap, drop out a battery carrier which feels quite tough and well made, pull out the old ones and place a new set of battery observing proper polarity. Reattach the tail cap and you are ready for action. The light is direct driven so it runs on 3 x AAA size cells, Alkaline and NiMH.
